A documentary film showing in Nevada, Iowa is focusing local attention on a little known procedure in health care that many call “powerful” and even “life saving.”

“The Power of Upper Cervical” is the work of husband and wife team Cristina and Bill Barretta, most known for their work in television on the Muppets.

Cristina suffered from Fibromyalgia for years before having her health restored through upper cervical care. The pair created the documentary to tell the story of upper cervical doctors and patients. Upper cervical doctors work to re-balance a vital area to the body’s health, at the intersection of the head and the neck. “This is a health care option that nobody seems to know about…and this one actually works!” Mr. Barretta writes on the film’s website.

As one of only a few upper cervical doctors in central Iowa, Dr. Ward bought the rights to show the film, as a public service to the community, and kick start a discussion about options in health care in general. The film offers hope for many who are suffering without answers.

“The Power of Upper Cervical” is 58 minutes long, and is showing at the Nevada Public Library Monday October 12, 2009 at 6 pm. A question and answer period regarding upper cervical research and history will be held immediately following.
